Spurlock's Super Size Me Chronicled His 30-Day McDonald's Diet

Morgan Spurlock, the documentary filmmaker who gained fame with his Oscar-nominated 2004 film Super Size Me, has died at the age of 53.

Spurlock's Super Size Me premiered at the 2004 Sundance Film Festival where he won the Grand Jury Prize for directing the film.

In Super Size Me, Spurlock ate only McDonald's food for 30 days to explore the effects of the fast food diet on his health. The film was a critical and commercial success, grossing over $25 million worldwide and earning Spurlock an Oscar nomination for Best Documentary Feature.

Spurlock's death was confirmed by his wife, Alexandra Jamieson. The cause of death has not been released.
